Itinerary Highlights
Days 1-3: Raja Ampat North — Waigeo & Dampier Strait
Embarkation in Sorong. Three days exploring Raja Ampat’s northern sector: pre-dawn Bird of Paradise displays (Wilson’s, Red, King species), diving the legendary Dampier Strait sites (Cape Kri, Blue Magic, Manta Sandy), and the iconic Piaynemo viewpoint. Up to 8 dives. Expert ornithologist and photography guide accompany throughout.
Days 4-6: Misool — The Wild South
Cruise south to Misool, Raja Ampat’s most remote and spectacular region. Dive sites include Boo Windows (swim-through rock formations), Magic Mountain (oceanic mantas), and Whale Rock. Above water: explore Misool’s ancient petroglyphs, hidden jellyfish lakes, and pristine lagoons. Kayaking through sea-stack labyrinths. Beach camping option on a deserted island. Up to 6 dives.
Days 7-9: Far South — New Discoveries
Venture into Raja Ampat’s rarely visited southern reaches. Sites visited by fewer than 100 people per year. Pristine reefs, undocumented WWII wrecks, and isolated Papuan villages where traditional life continues unchanged. Dawn birding at forest leks for endemic species found nowhere else. Up to 4 dives at unexplored sites.
Days 10-12: Cenderawasih Bay — Swimming with Whale Sharks
Voyage east into Cenderawasih Bay, Indonesia’s largest marine national park. Here, whale sharks gather around traditional bagan fishing platforms year-round — the most reliable whale shark encounters in the world. Swim and snorkel alongside these gentle giants (4-8 meters) in the open ocean. Two days of whale shark encounters, plus diving on pristine WWII wrecks and coral walls. Up to 4 dives.
Days 13-14: Return & Farewell
Cruise back toward Nabire or Manokwari. Final Bird of Paradise session for any species not yet seen (targeting 8+ species across the expedition). Farewell celebration on board. Disembarkation and airport transfer.
