Day 1: Arrive Fort-de-France
Welcome to Martinique! Settle into your hotel. Evening stroll along La Savane and the waterfront. Overnight in Fort-de-France.
Day 2: Fort-de-France & Rhum Clément
Morning city tour: Schoelcher Library, Spice Market, Saint-Louis Cathedral. Afternoon: visit Habitation Clément, a historic rum distillery set in a 18th-century plantation house. Tour the aging cellars where oak barrels hold rhum agricole — made from fresh sugarcane juice (not molasses), giving Martinique’s AOC rum its distinctive grassy, complex character. Tasting session in the gardens. Overnight in Fort-de-France.
Day 3: Northern Distilleries Trail
Drive the Trace road to the northern distilleries. Visit Depaz Distillery, rebuilt after the 1902 eruption at the foot of Mount Pelée — the volcano that destroyed it also created the rich volcanic soil that produces exceptional sugarcane. Continue to the JM Distillery, one of the oldest on the island (1845), set in the lush Macouba valley. Afternoon: Saint-Pierre ruins and beach time at Anse Couleuvre, a black-sand beach on the wild north coast. Overnight back in Fort-de-France.
Day 4: Southern Beaches & Les Trois-Îlets
Morning ferry to Les Trois-Îlets, birthplace of Empress Joséphine. Visit La Savane des Esclaves, an open-air museum recreating traditional slave quarters and telling the often-overlooked story of the African heritage of Martinique. Afternoon: beach time at Anse Mitan and Anse Dufour for sea turtle snorkeling. Overnight in Les Trois-Îlets.
Day 5: Diamond Rock & Southern Coast
Drive south through fishing villages to Le Diamant, where the iconic Diamond Rock rises from the sea — a 175m basalt monolith that was actually commissioned as HMS Diamond Rock by the Royal Navy in 1804 (yes, they classified a rock as a warship). Continue to Anse Cafard Slave Memorial, 15 towering white stone figures facing the sea, commemorating the 1830 shipwreck that killed dozens of enslaved people. Beach afternoon at Les Salines. Overnight in Les Trois-Îlets.
Day 6: La Mauny & Southern Distilleries
Visit La Mauny Distillery, one of the most awarded rhum agricole producers. Tour the sugarcane fields and distillery. Tasting lunch pairing rum with Creole dishes. Visit the Caravelle Peninsula for a coastal hike through mangroves to the Dubuc Castle ruins — an 18th-century sugar plantation overlooking the Atlantic. Farewell dinner in Les Trois-Îlets. Overnight in Les Trois-Îlets.
Day 7: Depart
Transfer to airport.
