Day 1: Arrive Nouakchott — The City in the Sand
Arrive in Nouakchott. Visit Port de Pêche to witness the spectacular daily catch. Evening walk through the capital’s lively streets. Dinner: Mauritanian-style grilled fish and thieboudienne (the national dish of rice, fish, and vegetables).
Day 2: Chinguetti — Ancient Libraries
4×4 drive through the Adrar to Chinguetti. Explore the 13th-century stone mosque and the family libraries where manuscripts on astronomy, law, and mathematics have been preserved for centuries. Camel ride into the dunes as the sun sets over the Sahara.
Day 3: Eye of the Sahara & Ouadane
Journey to the Richat Structure (Eye of the Sahara). Walk the geological rings of this massive formation. Visit Ouadane, a crumbling 12th-century caravan city. Evening in Atar.
Day 4: Terjit Oasis
Visit Terjit Oasis, where date palms and cool springs provide a Saharan paradise. Swim in natural pools, relax in shade. Drive back to Nouakchott via the Atlantic coast. Farewell dinner.
Day 5: Departure
Transfer to Nouakchott Airport.
