Day 1: Georgetown to Iwokrama
Early morning transfer from Georgetown (flight or road) to Iwokrama Forest Reserve. Settle into the Iwokrama River Lodge on the Essequibo River. Afternoon: introductory forest walk with a naturalist guide. Evening: night boat safari — black caimans, frogs, and the sounds of the rainforest at night. Overnight Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 2: Canopy Walkway & Turtle Mountain
Dawn at the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway — 154 meters of suspension bridges rising to 35 meters, with toucans, macaws, and howler monkeys at eye level in the forest canopy. Morning hike to Turtle Mountain: the 1.5-hour climb is rewarded with a panorama of unbroken rainforest stretching to every horizon. This is one of the most spectacular views in South America. Afternoon: boat trip to see Victoria Amazonica water lilies (leaves up to 3 meters across). Overnight Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 3: Jaguar Trail — The Linden-Lethem Road
Full day wildlife viewing along the Linden-Lethem road through Iwokrama — one of the best jaguar-spotting roads in the world. Dawn and dusk drives maximize your chances of seeing these magnificent cats crossing the road. Throughout the day: tapirs, agoutis, capuchin and spider monkeys, and an extraordinary variety of birds including the crimson fruitcrow and Guianan cock-of-the-rock. Evening: traditional Amerindian dinner at the lodge. Overnight Iwokrama River Lodge.
Day 4: Return to Georgetown
Final morning in the rainforest — one last walk or boat trip. Transfer back to Georgetown for departure.
